- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1-1/2 cups all-purpose white flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

- 1/2 cup molasses

- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool on the sheet for 20 minutes, then turn out onto a plate. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar, if desired. Decorate for taste and preference... popular toppings include chocolate chips, raisins, icing, etc.
