8 Things to Tell Your Teen Not to Do

I hope you have been enjoying your summer so far. Soon, our kids will be going back to school. While we are busy thinking about lunch plans, shopping for school clothes, and more, our children are clinging to their last bit of summer break.

This time of year also means that many teens will be getting behind the wheel and driving themselves to and from school, to after school sports or part time jobs, to go hang out with their friends, etc.

We were teens once, so we know firsthand how important it is to make sure our teens are staying responsible.

Keeping our children when they are on the road is something that every parent worries about constantly. Our teens are growing up, and we won’t always be in the car with them.

One of the most important things we can do is make sure teens are aware of the danger and encouraged not to drive while distracted.

Distracted driving is any activity that diverts the driver’s attention away from driving. All distractions endanger the driver, passengers, and pedestrian safety.

While behind the wheel, make sure your teen knows not to:

  • Send outgoing or read incoming text messages
  • Use a cell phone or smart phone to make phone calls (or at all!)
  • Eat or drink
  • Talk to passengers
  • Groom themselves
  • Read maps or a GPS
  • Watch videos
  • Adjust the radio or CD player

Your family’s safety is our top priority. Please give us a call or come by the office so we can make sure you’ve got the coverage you need to keep you are your teen safe!
